I have been using them for many years. They work well. The hinges can break over time, but I expect this since I do not baby them. So I buy several at one time.
NO ONE else who sells discount readers has an oval frame as good as these. I have been buying from ARG for almost 10 years. Yes, they break (hey, they are plastic) but most often I lose them. So I end up with buying 6 a year. They are great for men. I get a lot of compliments. And the best news is that I need 4.0 magnification and they make them in that strength.
I've been buying these from American reading glasses for about 5 years. I get lots of compliments from folks who see me with them on. Do you know how hard it is to find oval reading glasses that are not $35 frames and up? the Peepers Brand used to make these and discontinued them about 5 years ago. ARG seems to be only one. Be aware that - though they are tortoise - the lots are sometimes darker than others (I mean the frame). I prefer the lighter ones (in color) but beggars can't be choosers. Also the screws have a tendency to come loose and I use one of those $3.00 eyeglass repair kits to fix them. Again, it's all about the design and price. My eyes are now up to requiring a 4.0 power. That is highest they make. Until I need still more powerful ones, I'm staying with these.
I bought these glasses and couldn't be happier. They are comfortable and couldn't be easier to wear. Long lasting too!!
I've been buying this design from RGCA for about 6 years now. I used to buy similar frames from Peers (at $12.00 each) but they discontinued their men's ovals. These are nearly as good at almost 1/3 the price. When I'm out shopping I have men stop me and say "Where did you get those glasses?" They think they came from Pearl or Lenscrafters. I explain that they are fixed "reading glasses" or distance glasses and they were were under $7.00 pp if you buy three pairs. Their eyes open in surprise. I then give them the website info. I would give the glasses 5 stars except that the tortoise frames have been coming in a darker tortoise color than a few years ago. I think the lighter tortoise ones looked better. But I can live with these. Like any plastic frames (note that are not spring loaded) they break fairly easily but at this price I buy them in groups of three and re-order more when the 2nd one breaks. Service from ARC has been great and they ship in a sturdy box. And they variety of strengths (I need strong 3.50) is good. I can recommend these frames and the company.
