In Memoriam: Phyllis Lazarow

Phyllis Lazarow was an extraordinary human being. The not so silent partner of Reading Glass Company of America, she was graceful, confident, and utterly unforgettable. A true pillar of her community, she carried herself with a radiance that filled every room. And if by some chance you hadn’t noticed her, she had a way of making sure you did. Always with charm, humor, and that signature touch of class.

She was warm, witty, and generous. Full of life, Phyllis shared her laughter freely, and when she laughed, everyone around her joined in. She loved beauty in a way that celebrated confidence, individuality, and joy. An expert in the art of helping women feel seen and stunning, she offered her wisdom to anyone who asked, and countless women carry her lessons with them today.

Phyllis was also a savvy businesswoman. As a self-made entrepreneur, she built a salon that became a haven. She catered to her clients with genuine care, ensuring every woman who left her chair walked out feeling cherished, understood, and a little more luminous than when she walked in.

I will never forget something she once told me: “A woman needs only the right shade of red to make herself stand out.” I live by that mantra now. When I finally discovered the shade that felt like mine, I ran to show her. She looked at me, smiled, and said, “Well… wear it.”

Phyllis will be remembered with gratitude, admired for her strength, and missed deeply. Her light, her humor, and her wisdom stay with us; echoes of a remarkable woman who made the world brighter simply by being in it.

Her memory is carried on by all of us here at AmericanReadingGlasses.com, as well as by her amazing daugher, and her loving spouse.
